Aberdeen floating village is located at the Aberdeen Harbour in the Southern District of Hong Kong. The harbor is known to contain 600 junks and is home to about 6,000 people. One can take a sampan ride to see the area closely and see how the fisher folk live. A sampan is a relatively flat bottomed Chinese wooden boat. Some sampans include a small shelter on board, and may be used as a permanent habitation on inland waters. Sampans are generally used for transportation in coastal areas or rivers, and are often used as traditional fishing boats.
