A lot has been said about Wan Chai’s Amazonia and Taboo bars especially in the Wan Chai posts. Well…. The reference to Amazonia and Taboo were more related to what happens outside the two bars with freelancers, street walkers hovering around the area. What happens inside is totally independent of what happens outside. Amazonia and Taboo are two of the best bars in Hong Kong’s Wan Chai area. They both have excellent bands playing 7 days a week. They are open to the street and not behind closed doors with plenty of fresh air. They both have good food. So lets put it simply, if you want to go and enjoy an evening drink or even dinner in Wan Chai, they are two of the best bars you can visit.
Enough has been said about finding free sex in Hong Kong, Paying for sex in Hong Kong and the like. If you have read all my posts there is a 3rd group that I talk about. The escort agencies. Lets address one question. What is the difference between a prostitute and an escort? For some, there is absolutely no difference whatsoever. For some it is the difference in status of the person. Technically, it is very clear who a prostitute or Hooker (as lot of us call it) is but an Escort does not always mean escort for sex.

Paying for sex in Hong Kong like many other cities is exactly that. Paying for sex! Or in other words, paying a hooker, free lance sex worker, prostitutes or what ever term you want to call a person who is in the sex industry (just being a bit polite here). Lets understand something. Prostitution is the oldest profession in the world and the joke is that the indication for the worst period of unemployment is cobwebs around a women’s leg. I know it is cruel… but its just a joke. OK, we should respect women and then so do we respect Prostitutes! For some, prostitution is the need for money. For another group it is a part of a lifestyle! Wow…. who would have considered the scenario that some are working as prostitutes or escorts just because they like it.

So you must be wondering what the story of the Night Time Girl Friend is. During my stays in Hong Kong, I usually hit Bar 109 on Sundays and Public holidays during the day. Well until evening when it is time for my Day Time Girl Friend who is always a Domestic Helper has to go back home. So what do I do in the night! Hit the venues like Neptune III, Hong Kong Café or Sparks. Not necessarily Makati if they slug me a cover charge. Neptune III, Wan Chai is my favorite as they usually have a good band playing there other than on Sunday Evening.

Lan Kwai Fong is a small square of streets in Central, Hong Kong. The area was dedicated to hawkers before the Second World War and underwent a renaissance in the mid-1980s. Today, it is a very popular expat haunt in Hong Kong for drinking, clubbing and dining. It is not unusual to find drunk women at even 10pm. A Street in the area actually closes on Saturday and Sunday evenings to make way for the large crowds. Being and expat haunt and somewhat a tourist haunt, it is not unlikely you can hit upon a lady out for some fun.

If you landed on this page out of the blues, it means you have not yet seen the first 2 posts on Wan Chai. Yes, there is Wan Chai 1 and Wan Chai 2. This is the third post specific to Wan Chai in 2019. There are lots more to read about Hong Kong and the fun and sex life in Hong Kong. I did say before in the first Hong Kong post that Hong Kong is actually a very fascinating place. The fun side of Hong Kong is run by expats. Wan Chai its self is an interesting place. There are plenty of bars where you can pick up women for fun. Bar 109 where the women don’t take more than a few minutes to kiss you! Guess what! They are not locals. Street Walkers are in plenty. But gone are the days that street walkers used to be low class scantily clad women. You can find some stunners out there.Continue reading “Wan Chai 3”
As I promised, here’s Wan Chai 2. If you haven’t read the First of Wan Chai posts for 2019 then you should go back and read that. That is where I wrote about the famous Bar 109 and the Sunday afternoon Parties. So let me restart from where I left and talk about what happens in the places I refer to as “Underground and Overhead” venues – the likes of Neptune 3, Hong Kong Café, Makati that have afternoon parties. The story after the afternoon parties and on weeknights is a bit different. Then there are those who spend vacation in Hong Kong and engage in some form of “working” to cover the cost of the vacation and then also the street walkers.
Afternoon parties are mainly to cater for the Domestic Helpers who come in large numbers to spend their Sunday afternoon. As I said before a sizable portion of expat workers are the Domestic Helpers. Apart from that there are also those who have regular jobs such as work in beauty salons, other restaurants, bars who work 5 to 6 days a week and have an evening off on a weekday. Where do they go when they want some fun? The Underground and Overhead venues – the likes of Neptune 3, Hong Kong Café, Makati, Sparks and even Escape. They are all patronised by few groups of people at night. Most venues do not have cover charge or at least I have not come across any who do have cover charge at night other than the eve of a public holiday if at all. However, not sure about Makati. During my visit to Hong Kong once during Chinese New year, on all 4 days I was there, I never went to Makati because of cover charge. However, I have been to all venues that I talk about at some time.Continue reading “Wan Chai 2”
About Wan Chai
Out of all Hong Kong hot-spots, Wan Chai is the most exciting, vibrant and entertaining. To recap on what Wan Chai is, it is a busy commercial area filled with office workers, shoppers, specialty spots and the very lively bars and night clubs along Lockhart Road. Lockhart Road forms the Center piece of Wan Chai’s exciting nightlife area. Jaffe Road runs parallel to Lockhart. Connecting the two are Luard Road which is where lot of the street walkers hang around. Parallel to Luard Road are Fenwick Street on one side and Obrien Road on the other. Together, they form a two block rectangle where the hype of activity is. If you get to the intersection of Lockhart Road and Jaffe Road or the Intersection of Jaffe Road and Luard Road, you can pretty much see everything around. Guess you are not going to be staying in Wan Chai like you do and need to take MTR. Take the MTR to Wan Chai station and take exit C. When you get to the street, turn left and walk towards the intersection of Lockhart Road and Jaffe Road. You will pass the Makati Pub & Disco. This joint sometimes charges you $500 to get in. Not only on a Sunday afternoon but on evenings as well.
Walkabout in Hong Kong, Wan Chai area at night. Spotlight on the Street Walkers or Freelancers! The area outside the Escape Night Club on Jaffe Road in Wan Chai is a hotspot for African freelancers as most would call them (or freelance sex workers) who usually move between Escape and Amazonia along Jaffe Road.
